Connect

Connect with other people!

Building connections with others can help us feel supported, appreciated, and less alone.

Socialising looks different for everyone.

You may enjoy one-to-one conversations, larger group settings, online chats, phone calls, or even writing messages and letters.

Ways to connect

  • Say “Hello,” “Good morning,” or ask “How are you?”
  • Build strong relationships with family, friends, and your community
  • Start a conversation with someone new if you feel comfortable doing so
  • Ask someone about their weekend and take time to listen properly
  • Spend a few minutes checking in with a colleague
  • Spend your lunch break with someone
  • Share a commute or offer someone a lift to work
  • Joining local groups Community Hubs, Events on Meet Up or Eventbrite.

Be Active

Be physically active!

Being physically active can have a positive impact on both mental and physical wellbeing.

You don’t need to run marathons or spend hours in the gym. Even small changes to your daily routine can make a difference.

Research shows that regular activity can improve sleep, lift your mood, and help reduce stress, anxiety, and overthinking.

Discover an activity

  • Join a Health Walk
  • Engage in regular physical activity that you enjoy
  • Do some gardening or dance
  • Take the stairs instead of the lift
  • Go for a walk during your lunch break
  • Walk or cycle part of your journey to work
  • Get off public transport one stop earlier and walk the rest of the way
  • Organise a workplace sports activity
  • Spend some time outdoors being active in a local park
  • Do a few stretches before starting your day
  • Walk over to speak to a colleague instead of emailing or calling

Keep Learning

Setting goals and developing new skills can also help you feel motivated and productive.

Give

Give to others!

Helping others and taking part in your community can have a positive effect on wellbeing.

Acts of kindness (even small ones) can make a real difference to both you and those around you.

Help someone today

  • Help out a neighbour, if you can
  • Simply offer a smile
  • Make a tea or coffee for a colleague
  • Offer support to someone who may be struggling with a task
